Dear Friends,

After seven years of darkness and addiction, saying that I was 'hopeless' to see a good outcome in my life was an understatement. I had no hope for my life during (or after) my time as a drug addict. You can imagine my surprise when my family had an intervention, stating that they "loved me, they were scared for me, and would help me get help if I was willing."

I was blown away that they still had hope for my life!

Their love, hope, and believing that God could help me literally changed my life.

"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13 NKJV

Hope gave me the ability to transform my life.

Hope is a powerful thing. It brings what we're believing for into the natural (Heb. 11:1), it's an anchor for our souls (Heb. 6:19), and it enables us to be strong in our faith (Rom. 4:18-21).

I didn't always realize this, but my heart, mind, and emotions aren't always telling me the truth. They have their own interests in mind, and they don't always align with the truth of who I am in Christ.

If I want to live in the fullness of God and the power of who I am in Christ, I need to persuade my heart into the hope of my new, born-again nature.

I need to constantly monitor what's going on in my soul (mind, will, emotions), and bring them into alignment with the truth of who Christ is in me. As I practice this every day, God is able to lead me farther and deeper into His divine nature and precious promises for my life (2 Pet. 1:2-11).

This isn't just for the pastors, evangelists, and ministers; this is for every person in the body of Christ. We can all live a transformed life, by the power of His Word and Spirit working within us. And it's all enabled by hearts full of hope, looking towards the goodness of God towards us.

"I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance." Ephesians 1:18 (NLT)

God always had an amazing plan for my future. It was better than anything I could ever have dreamed of (Eph. 3:20). He just needed me to hope for it, and one day at a time, trust Him to bring it to pass as I seek Him with all my heart (Phil. 1:6, Matt. 6:33).

No matter where you are today, brothers and sisters, know that God loves you and His perfect plan for your future is still possible. Don't discount yourself because of your past. Seek God with all your heart, and He will do mighty things in your life.
