God's Word Cleanses, Guides & Frees You

August 09, 20258 min read

“while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18, NKJV)

Dear Friend,

Have you ever thought to yourself, why isn’t my life changing? Why am I not seeing the results of faith in my life that the Word of God promises? I had these same thoughts not too many years ago. God met my hungry heart and took me on a journey, revealing to me the power of His Word (the Bible). God showed me that His Word is what brings forth the promises in our believing hearts, and without the Word, we will not see change in our lives.

Today, I'm thrilled to share with you the power of the Word in the believer's life from Chapter 4 in my book, Hello, New You! Next Tuesday, we'll continue Chapter 4 as I share how to garden your heart, and how to practically sow the seed of God's Word in your heart to bring forth even more fruit in your life.

The spiritual principles that God laid out in His Word will work for anyone who follows them, and they will produce an abundant harvest in their life!

The Power of the Word

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, NKJV)

God’s Word is alive, powerful, sharp, and it goes to work in the believer’s heart and life when we mix faith with it. This is good news because that means its not our job to do the work. It’s the Word and the Spirit at work together that does the change in our life.

The Bible is God inspired and protected; written by men of God over the ages.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, NKJV)

All Scripture. All Scripture. All Scripture is divinely breathed by God and it’s profitable (helpful, serviceable, advantageous) for the believer’s life.

The Word helps you and empowers you!

The Bible guides, corrects, teaches, reproves and instructs us in the ways of God so that we are perfected and prepared for every good work of God.

God’s Word is simply a miracle that He’s protected and preserved for us over the ages to guide the believer’s life into His goodness, promises, and purpose. If we will seek Him with all our heart and stick our nose in the Bible, it will change your life. It has the power to change the course of your life, to change your circumstances, to set you free from bondage, and to help you walk in the fullness of God's goodness for your life. If you see lack, depression, anxiety, sickness, unforgiveness—anything less than God's best—then the Word has an answer for you! I was lost and broken, but God healed my life through His Word.

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.” (Proverbs 4:20-22, NKJV)

The Word Will Cleanse & Guide You

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.” (Psalms 119:9, NKJV)

“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” (Psalms 119:105, NKJV)

Is there an area in your life that needs God’s cleansing? Do you need divine guidance and direction?

Be still, spend time in the Word, and let Him speak to your heart and guide your life.

When you make time to be with God and read the Bible, you're giving God time and space to direct you, heal you, and provide His loving instruction to lead your life to victory.

The Word is Your Mirror

When you look in the mirror at home, there’s things you can definitely see: your face, hair, wrinkles, and so forth. You can’t see your emotions and thoughts in the mirror, but you know they’re there. So if there’s parts of you that you can see, and you know there’s parts of you that you can’t see, then how can there not be an entire reality about you that you can’t see?

The born-again spirit of Jesus Christ within you is the unseen new you, and you discover the truth about this part of you in the Word of God.

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty [God’s Word] and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:22-25, NKJV) [brackets mine]

When we read the Bible and don’t actively apply it to our life, its like looking in the mirror and completely forgetting who we are, and we’re deceiving ourselves. This hardens our heart to God and His voice, and it makes it difficult to understand spiritual truths.

If you recognize this pattern in your life, simply repent right now, ask God for forgiveness, and start being a hearer and a doer.

When we read the Bible, continue (remain, abide, stay near, persevere) in it, do (perform) what we hear, then we will be blessed (supremely blessed, fortunate, well off, happy) in all we set our hands to.

In fact, Jesus was talking to people who already believed in Him, and He gave them a conditional statement (which means it’s not going to happen automatically). It requires our cooperation.

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, [then] you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."” (John 8:31-32, NKJV) [brackets mine]

The more truth you know and renew your mind to, the more you’ll experience the power and fullness of God in your life.

This is how we see God’s promises manifested in our life, and we will see the results of our faith.

Your faith in Jesus Christ is powerful:

  • if you renew your mind to who you are in Christ,

  • and keep applying the truth in the Bible to every area of your life.

It's Time for Transformation

Are you ready to see more growth and transformation in your life?

Make a commitment today to not just visit faith on Sunday, but to prioritize your relationship with God. You make time for things that matter to you, so make time for your relationship with God:

  • Make time to be with God and read the Bible every day

  • Familiarize yourself with your new mirror of God’s Word

  • Rely on His truth more than anything else

If you do these things and continue to do them, then you will see the results of your faith, and your relationship with God will be sweeter than the finest treasure on earth.

You won’t only see transformation in your own life, but it will be a ripple effect, touching your family, community, and the world around you.

My friend, let’s commit our life to God, His Spirit, and His Word, and we will be world changers!
