Fullest Potential

February 19, 20243 min read

Dear Friend,

Knit within every human being is a drive to succeed, to create, to do well, and to please their Creator. God created humans with this drive in the very beginning of creation in the Garden of Eden.

“And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”” (Genesis 1:28)

This was God’s blessing upon mankind since the beginning and this God-given blessing still remains today. The ability to be fruitful, grow, expand, and produce. How amazing is that!

God created you with innate potential to grow and succeed.

This verse leads to the question, “How? How do we bear fruit, multiply, fill the earth, subdue it, and have dominion over God’s beautiful creation?”

The Bible tells us in John 15, to “abide” in God in order to bear fruit (mature, grow, and be a blessing to others).

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” (John 15:4)

When you abide and remain in God throughout your life, you will bear godly fruit and you will reach your fullest potential.

Abiding in God is the perfect picture of relationship, intimacy, and reliance upon Him.

Along my journey I have discovered four keys that have helped me to abide in God. These four keys reminded me to remain in Christ throughout the day, rely on Him for my every need, and give Him my “yes” always.

1. Relationship with God.
- Understand that God loves you and live your life with a daily intimacy with Him. Talk with Him like He is your closest friend, and listen to His leadings within you.

2. Reverence for God.
- Recognize that God is the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last. He is holy, and He alone is God Almighty. He deserves our utmost honor and respect.

3. Reliance upon Holy Spirit.
- In your every need, small or great, rely upon the Holy Spirit within you, leading you, teaching you, directing you, and helping you.

4. Respond in faith.
- As God prompts you with new truth, instruction, or direction, respond to Him with a believing heart, knowing that you can trust Him, and He will give you steps to take that will take you deeper with Him and farther in life.

God created every person with a specific purpose. Within that purpose is first, relationship with Him. From that relationship, we discover that God is good, He is Lord, He is holy, and He deserves our utmost adoration. A holy reverence for God produces inner ability to trust and rely on Him no matter what we face. When we trust God, He is able to reveal Himself as a faithful Father and Provider, and we will experience His faithfulness, making it easier to obey Him when He asks us to do something in the future.

I have experienced and tested this process several times in my life, and it’s how I have overcome many battles and advanced into another realm of opportunity. A daily, consistent relationship with God has taught me how to abide in Him, revere Him, trust Him, and respond to Him in faithful obedience—even when I wanted to run away in fear.

I pray that these keys will help you and strengthen you. The more we rest in our relationship with God, the more we will accomplish our God-given purpose on the earth and access our fullest potential in Christ.
